Calypso: 2003 - 2024

Calypso's health was deteriorating over the last couple of weeks, and we could see she was in more distress and discomfort.  So we made the difficult decision to euthanize her.

18 years ago we adopted her (along with Zazou) from the pound, she was two at the time.

This blog was started as she and Zazou figured out how to conquer the world, finally settling on trying to master the pizza delivery process.  That didn't get very far, thankfully.

We loved the 18 years we had with her.

Gotcha Day, number 18 or so?

No, I wasn't brought home in a bag, but I like them.  Or I did, when I could get into and out of them easily.  This was in 2005, and I was 2 then.

No snacks?

Daf did not provide proper treats for this photo!  I think I’ll boycott his lap tonight.

No, probably not, it’s warm and cozy.

Starvation, dying of starvation

Dad and Mom says they're going to put me on a diet!  I can't lose anymore of my fluffiness!

The rain had stopped

Mom took me outside to get some sun and rest.  I slept in the warmth. We have had the Atmospheric Rivers hitting us all winter, so this was nice.

Been a while

Unfortunately, my arthritis has been getting worse and that makes it difficult to get around.  Had an X-ray done and it’s in my hips, and mom and dad are trying a new medication to see if that helps.  Mostly I spend time under the stairs in my nest, or on my dads lap.

Happy Gotcha Day (number 1) Brin and Amy

These are photos from the day we arrived at mom's house.  We were adopeted from Project Purr, who places feral kittens into households.

This is gotcha day number 1, since we now live at dad's house, his mother passed away and he adopted us then.

Got dry enough to pawtrol

Needless to say, I didn't see any interlopers.  I think dad got a good picture though.

What is this rain?

Okay, I’ve been told we need the rain, but does it have to rain when I want to go outside?  And why did dad leave the door open for me to get splashed.

Though I have been spending more time in his lap while works because it’s been getting colder,  maybe I should forgive him.

Chased those squirrels

I went out the the studio with dad, and I saw a couple of squirrels running across the backyard.  I had to chase them out of the yard.  I must have gotten within yards of them and they ran off.  Dad didn't get pictures of the squirrels, so this is just me in the studio.

Then I went and took a nap.

It's hot

It's 100 degrees outside, which is very hot.  And dad wonders why I lie down in the sun...  Why, it's sun, it's what you're supposed to do!

What the wet!!!

It's summer here, and it's supposed to be nice and sunny!  I went outside for my pawtrol, and then water started falling from the sky.  I don't know about you, but I moved as fast as this 19 years old could move

It's the weekend, almost

And that means sleeping in sun puddles.  Or maybe that's every day.

See, we're not the same cat

I've heard rumors that some people thought we were the same cat.  You can see in this photo that we're not.

Hey, wait, there's an outside?

When do I get my chance to see the outside?  And why is dad always playing with a camera?

It's a first step

I followed dad into the bedroom, and he attacked me with his clawrinet!  Well, he started playing it and I scooted right out of there.  I don't like it.

But he found me later and let me out in the backyard in the sun.  It was still chilly, and there were puddles from the rain still around.  But I scoped out the backyard and then went back in to lay in the sun by the door.
