Make your bed and sleep in it.

sometimes you just need to make your own bed...

We wish everyone a happy new year.  We'll be hiding out from the booms going on outside tonight...

I knew it was in here somewhere.

My dad tossed something into the waste-paper basket in the living room, and I was looking for it.  But, I thought it was a paper ball and I couldn't find it.  So I decided that my paw needed cleaning.

Then the flashy box came out...

Oh yeah, Calypso got onto the counter and knocked over the bag with the remains of the Christmas dinner.  She got into trouble when she stole one of the "Game Hen" bones and hid it.    She did bring it back into the kitchen, but it was a day later...

Keeping warm

Since my mom has been working at home, she's around to take care of me.  It gets cold in the house, so she lets me sleep in the clothes closet. That's where my dad keeps his sweaters and sweatshirts, which are nice and warm.

I'm not worried about the cat hair not matching his sweaters, since it has black, white, and orange in it.

Did you wash?

I told Calypso that I already washed my ears, and those white tufts are natural, not dirt. She didn't believe me.  -- Zazou

Well, I know how hard it is to see whether your ears are clean, so I had to make sure for you.  After all, if your ears aren't clean, then you can't hear really well.  And if you can't hear really well, then you won't be able to chase the mice if they come into the house. -- Calypso.

Scritching Shoulders

I don't know about anyone else, but when I get scratches, I like to climb up on the shoulder to get them.  It's just so much better there.  I can purr loudly, and know that I am close to my mom or dad.

Sometimes they don't let me, they claim it's because they're not wearing heavy enough clothes.  Isn't their skin thick enough to handle me?

But then my mom took out the flashy box and annoyed me a little...

My mom has been staying home for the last couple of days which is nice.  Though she's not sitting at her desk anymore.  She told me her doctor said something about a bulge in a disk in her back and she wasn't allowed to sit when she works, she has to stand.  But if she does that, she doesn't have a lap...

cat beds

Some people think that cat beds are a waste of money.  That cats should be able to sleep anywhere.

I would like to state that I don't see how you can put a price on a cat, and they do make the best beds.  Especially when it's been very cold.  When the cat bed is in the sun, it's even better.

Do you feel like this a lot?

I know I do.  And I found out that my dad posted the pikshure of me and Zazou on icanhascheezburger.com, and it's gotten over 25 captions!

water and ice falling from the sky!

So we have to share a lap.  My dad is in the kitchen making something, but we probably won't be allowed to have any.  I think he said something about pumpkin bread..

It must be winter, because the house is really cold and the outside of the windows are wet.

Since it won't be very interesting watching birds in the window anymore, I think I'll get back to my plans for world domination.  I understand that thanksgiving is coming up, so I have to plan around that.  I wouldn't want to disturb the upcoming turkey feast!

P.S. I'm saddened to hear of the kitties crossing the bridge, Inigo and Patches. I didn't know them directly, but I heard about them from some of the other blogs I read...

If I get high enough can I take over the world?

I think I can, so I jumped up on the cabinet (my dad says it is an armoire, but I think he's wrong) and was thinking about how I could get into the ceiling. Instead, Zazou jumped up onto the top shelf. So I decided to swat at her.  -- Calypso

And I decided that Calypso had the upper paw, so I beat a hasty retreat.  I caught her in the hallway later though and showed her who was boss...  I jumped to the floor, Calypso had to jump to the desk, that makes my leap more  -- Zazou

Bubbles? Really?

I mean, they float around oddly, and then they pop and spray stuff on your face!  Sometimes they sit on the ground and when you go up to them, they pop.  What fun is that!

My dad thinks we should like playing with them, because a previous kitty did.  The photo is of Anjelica, who went to the rainbow bridge shortly before we were gotten.  Dad says that she really liked to play with bubbles, chasing them around and stuff.  Calypso and I just kind of stare at them as they come down. Then they pop and get all sticky.

Am I wrong?  Are bubbles really that great?

Careful around halloween!

http://www.velociraptors.info/

I ran across and they sound really scary.  So all of you who are near veloci-rapters take care.  I think Calypso and I could take one on if we teamed up, but who knows.  Apparently their ankles are tougher than my mom and dads.

Looks like the easy life to me

Sleeping on ropes, eating fish heads.  My mom sent this photo from "Sorento" and said I had it easy.  I'm not so sure, I mean I don't get to sleep on ropes like this, and I don't think I have ever had a fish head!  I couldn't even get my head in the fish bowl enough to get a fish!

She also said that it, like me, is a basement kitty.  I don't know what that is, since mom and dad don't let me and Calypso into the basement enough.

My dad says the funniest things

He walked in and asked if I was hungry, so I lafted at him.  Of course I'm hungry, kitties are always hungry.

I asked my dad where mom was, she hasn't been around.  He said that she is learning Italian in Sorento.  I don't know where that is, but would it be better to learn cat it Catistan?

New kibble is the best!

I don't know about you, but when the new bag of kibble is opened, it's just heavenly!  I would rather eat my kibble than play string even.

I don't know what they do, but it's even better than catnip!  Okay, I'm not sure of that. Maybe I am.  I don't know, but it is really yummy.  Even better than soft food!

Sleepy Sundays

There was some sun out there earlier, but it went away.

Saturday, September 25, 2010

I'm not on the stove.

My mom and dad told me that I was not allowed to be on the stove, that was the rule.  So I hopped onto the counter, and then over to the vent hood and on to the fridge.  They didn't seem to accept my excuse that I was not on the stove at all!

But I needed to see what was on the fridge.  There may nave been mice, toys or snacks.

I wonder if Calypso remembers too.  I'll have to remind her.

Gotcha Day, part 2?

I was gotchaed from the Santa Cruz Animal Shelter, on September 4th.  Also 5 years ago.  Zazou didn't have a chance to take over the entire house, so I made sure to claim this bag as mine.  I was 2 years old then.

I liked the house we were living in back then because there were windows all over, and a garden where I could watch the birds.  Now we watch the kids go to the building up the street and sometimes they see us an meow at us, but I don't understand what they're trying to say.

Gotcha day

It was actually 5 years ago?  I was just a young kitten living in a foster home after being picked up off the streets when I was adopted by mom and dad.

Since then I have gotten much prettier and my fur has grown out a lot. I think my eyes have gotten greener too.  The photo was taken the day I got to my mum and dads place in Santa Cruz.

big boxes over-rated

Give me a small box that I can lie down in and I'll be happy.  Well, that and some snacks.  Snacks would be good.

Maybe some string, that would be great, some snacks, some string, and a small box I can lie down in.

And my fishy.

Helping my dad

Sometimes my dad doesn't get the comics he reads on the computer in the morning. So I help him out with the jokes.  He didn't understand the Garfield this morning, but then again neither did I.

Zazou doesn't help him as much.  I think she was waiting for lettuce from mom.

Dad's home!

Apparently he was at something called "Air Venture", but he was gone.  And he left his computer off so I couldn't post about it!  But he's been home from works this week, so I have had his lap all to myself... And I like that.  Sometimes if Zazou is in his lap, I'll climb up on his chest and lay down there.

I keep his lap warm while he is using the computer....

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

That didn't work.

I got my string in the mail, and when I pulled on it, nothing happened.  That's what I keep hearing is to think outside the box to make sure things happen.

So, I'm now thinking inside the box.

If I pull the string, they follow

My mom was playing string with me and I grabbed it and led her into the kitchen.  She just followed.  I think this is a clue on how to take over the world!

All I have to do is send a string to the president. Then keep the other end myself.  Once he grabs hold of it, then I can lead him anywhere I want!

Personal Space?

Daddy is certainly lucky I liked being on mommies lap when he took this picture with the flashy box.  I kept an eye on him as he got really close to me with the flashy-box, but he didn't do anything that scared me.

And he gave me a new treat after, so I guess it was worth letting him get close.

Boom!

There was a huge earfquake this morning!  Scared me and my sister.  I hid in the closet.  Mom said it was a 3.5, which is as old as I am so it must have been huge.

Previous kitties mentioned

In another blog comment I had mentioned a previous kittie my mom and dad had, named Diablo.  This is what he looked like.

According to dad, he lived to be 18 years old, and they had to give him "sub-cutaneous saline injections" for kidney failure the last three years.

Like me, he was gotten from the pound as an adult cat, he was three at the time.

I never met him, apparently he left us a little over a year before Zazou and I were adopted.

Don't underestimate a good sleep

My mom and dad think I sleep oddly, but I think they just are too tense to let a good sleep catch them wherever they are.  I, however, can take a nap anywhere.  Unless my dad wakes me up with his flashy box.  Then I'll just glare at him a little and go back to sleeps.

Sleep well all, let the nap take you anytime you need one.

boom!

I was sitting on the desk waiting for my dad to feed me when it looked like the flashy box went off, from the outside. Then a huge rolling boom came in. I had to see what happened outside, but I couldn't see anything.  My mom said that we kitties will be having so much fun today with the thunder....  It's May!

Playing Tarzan

That's what my dad said. Just had to get the string, that's all.

Ick blech phooey.

My dad was torturing me.  He made me sniff this stuff, he called "Tuna" petromalt.  It smelt terrible.  He said it was supposed to help with hairballs.  Then he put it on my paw.  Needless to say, I promptly flung most of it off onto the floor and walls.

Then I ran into the basement and hid on the little shelf by the books.  He said he was sorry and gave me a treat, but I just swatted it off.

Finally, he got the stuff off my paw (you can see it in the photo he took while I was pouting at him on my left paw.)

Hmph.

Not sure what this stuff is

They said it was a Dark and Stormy.  I thought I was the dark and stormy one around here.

And then we got tortured by taking us to the evil vet lady.  Though she did say I was very beautiful.  Which is true.  And she said I didn't need to lose any weight either, so I think I should get more food.

There are two here, but I'm not sure I like the smell of either one...

They came back!

And they had left the computer on all the time, but I couldn't figure out how to turn the monitor on.  Dad runs this thing called Linux....  I'm not sure that had anything to do with the monitor (there are two now!) but oh well.

They went away for a while, and thankfully the dry food dishes were full of food. But I was afraid they had been bitten in to by a water beast or something.

My dad was playing around with the camera, and I wanted to see what he was doing, so I went to investigate...

Sleepy Sundays

Some people just don't understand the necessity of a good nap.  I mean, how can I be awake in the early morning to stomp on mom and dad if I haven't prepared by napping during the day?  And the sun is coming in the window, which makes it warm...

Later, I'll chase some string perhaps, or toss my little mouse around. I won't eat any of that "petro-malt" stuff that my mom tries to feed me, it smells awful.

Sun

Life's just not worth living without an open basement door...

Monday, March 29, 2010

The rain has come out again.

Water is falling on the windows, and the sun isn't coming out to warm us up.  I can see some birdies flying by, but they don't sit on the wires outside the windows.  And it looks very gray out there. Dad says it's supposed to be like this for a week.  I'm not sure how long that is, but it sounds a lot like furever...

Derby, on his blog was talking about cat's eyes.  My mum and dad like to take the fotos, and my dad was kind enough to give me a treat after getting really close with his camera...

Wish it were sunny.  Perhaps I'll come up with a good plan for the world takeover...

Kittens

This is me (Zazou) when I was just adopted by my mum and dad.  I had been living on the street when a group called Project Purr picked me up. My dad says that I had a foster family for a couple of months and then I was adopted.

My sister Calypso showed up about a day later.  We took to each other really quickly, I liked following her around.

My dad helped us to put together a slide show of us and I tossed in a few of the birds I like to watch for.

Monday, March 15, 2010

The sun has come out.

And mom and dad are moving a bit earlier than usual. They keep saying something about "Daylight savings time." I don't know what that is, but it's been sunny and warm.

It's been raining all winter, and that makes it cold.  Almost as cold as the summer time when the fog comes in and doesn't go away furever!

But now it's sunny, and while I can soak up all of the sun, my sister Zazou can't because of her black fur. That's just too bad.

Now I have to figure out how to get the sun from moving  and I'll be blissfully happy.

Maybe enough to forget my plans for world domination.

Chased out again...

Of the basement.  Mum and Dad keep the downstairs room closed off, but sometimes I can sneak in when they go down to get something. They'll usually let me lounge around for a little while until they decide it's time for me to come to dinner.  I don't mind that, but I think they should bring dinner down to me in the basement.  That would be much better.

Hi to all of the followers from Huffle!  I'm very impressed with all of the comments!  I have't had a chance to read all of them, but I will.  I have to kick dad off the computer for a little while.

Until then, I had fun watching this birdy out the window a few days ago (one of the sunny ones).  I think he would make a great snack, or two, or maybe three....

New fish!

My dad keeps fish for our entertainment.  Last December or so, the fish in the fish bowl disappeared. I didn't eat it and neither did Zazou, so we can only assume that mom and dad had it for dinner....

Last weekend, another one showed up, so Zazou and I can try to get to it. Normally we just stick our heads in and try to drink the water down.  Sometimes we grab the plant and hope that the fish gets caught in it.  So far none of this has worked.

They just don't listen

I tell my dad that the proper place to look for tuna is on the web, but he doesn't seem to follow what I tell him.  I try and explain that he needs to go to the San Francisco Fish Market or something to get the really high quality tuna for dinners.  But he says it just sounds like "meh meh meh."

I know I'm making sense, so he must not be listening hard enough.
